AirAsia X Suspend flights to Abu Dhabi

AirAsia X will temporarily suspend its flights to Abu Dhabi beginning Feb 21 in a bid to re-align its fleet to cover priority areas. The suspension is a counter measures which many said due to stiff competition from Etihad Airways. AirAsia X chief executive officer Azran Osman-Rani told they will fly back to Abu Dhabi at a later date. For the meantime they will focusing on the few new destinations in India. He added that AirAsia X need more frequencies, better airplanes and capacity before they can fly back to Abu Dhabi.

Currently, they fly with AirBus A330 and it has embarked on a seat refurbishment exercise and would be grounding planes to fit the new seats. They will get back to Abu Dhabi when the exercise completed.

Airasia new routes to Abu Dhabi, UAE

What a good news especially to Malaysian expatriate who are now working in Abu Dhabi. Eventhough, your perks there is sky high, I believe the recent AirAsia announcement on the new routes to Abu Dhabi is something that has been waiting by many. Now travelling to the Middle East will no longer burn a hole in the pocket.

It will only cost RM99 for a one-way fare on AirAsia X’s flights between Abu Dhabi and Kuala Lumpur. This is for travel during the period between Nov 23 this year and July 31 next year where AirAsia X will offer five flight a week during the Haj period.

The Airbus A340 aircraft, with a capacity of 286, will fly this new route.
