AirAsia X Suspend flights to Abu Dhabi

AirAsia X will temporarily suspend its flights to Abu Dhabi beginning Feb 21 in a bid to re-align its fleet to cover priority areas. The suspension is a counter measures which many said due to stiff competition from Etihad Airways. AirAsia X chief executive officer Azran Osman-Rani told they will fly back to Abu Dhabi at a later date. For the meantime they will focusing on the few new destinations in India. He added that AirAsia X need more frequencies, better airplanes and capacity before they can fly back to Abu Dhabi.

Currently, they fly with AirBus A330 and it has embarked on a seat refurbishment exercise and would be grounding planes to fit the new seats. They will get back to Abu Dhabi when the exercise completed.

  1. I am furious to find out from a relative that the KL to Abu Dhabi flights are suspended. My husband, myself and our son have bookings so that we can attend my niece’s wedding at the end of March

Air Asia has not contacted us which either which is extremely bad service. We are very, very upset.

  2. Most recently, my wife and I were stranded in Abu Dhabi when AirAsiaX announced they were canceling service to/from Abu Dhabi in January this year. They didn’t notify us, their stranded passengers, until Feb 10th. Neither did they offer any accommodation nor answer our emails asking for help. We had to get back to Malaysia on our own. They won’t reimburse our added expense either.

  3. Yes true Air Asia has not contacted me with regards to the cancelled Abu Dhabi flight. I have confirmed booking in June 2010 and I am still waiting for Air Asia to notify me for refund. I am disappointed with Air Asia
I am sure there are many passengers like me
Air Asia don’t just sell seats without customer service. You have my email, but no notification about the suspended flight!
Are you saying that we don’t need customer service because we pay cheap for our fares???
