Good new for those who want to fly Seoul from Kuala Lumpur as they have announced today that AirAsia X will fly direct to Incheon International Airport from Kuala Lumpur, starting from November 1, with direct daily flights.

AirAsia X will be offering fares from RM99 for the travel period from Nov 1, 2010 to August 11, 2011.

This new destination could not have come at a better time, as it will coincide with major school holidays and year end festivities, said AirAsia X Chief Executive Officer, Azran Osman-Rani.

He said the airline was confident the new route will encourage new travel demands and stimulate tourism growth.

“We estimate that more than 60 per cent of AirAsia X passengers to and from Seoul will be first time visitors, which will contribute significantly to tourism growth,” Azran Osman-Rani added.

AirAsia has announced that the current booking system will be shut down from Friday to Sunday to allow a new, state-of-the-art system to be put in place. The new system will be available from 6pm, Sunday, and is touted to be a huge improvement over the current booking system, allowing up to one million bookings daily.

AirAsia Regional Head of Commercial Kathleen Tan in a media statement Wednesday said the new and improved system will spell for AirAsia’s guests countless benefits, including savings that will come as a result of the more efficient operational processes created by the new system.

During this implementation period passenger will not be able to book seats online, at AirAsia sales offices and counters, and through the call centre. They also will not be able to self check in – through the web, by mobile and at the kiosks – or self-manage their booking online.

AirAsia will only be accepting cash for purchase of any ancillary product at the check-in counters, including excess baggage fees, during this period.

During the three days, AirAsia passengers will be manually checked in by the airline’s staff at the airport check-in counters. Travellers are advised to check in at least three hours before departure to avoid missing their flights.

Hotel bookings and reservations for tours and activities on airasiago.com will remain available throughout the AirAsia system upgrade.

KUALA LUMPUR: AirAsia Bhd has teamed up with The Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) to offer a multi-currency pricing e-platform system.

This will allow the carrier’s customers to get instant ticket pricing in the currency of their choice when making a purchase.

AirAsia said in a statement yesterday it was the first Asian low-cost carrier to launch multi-current pricing using RBS FXmicropay.
“The enhanced online sales platform will take away the uncertainty of exchange rates fluctuation. We want out guests to have no surprises when they receive their credit card statements at the end of the month,” group chief executive officer Datuk Seri Tony Fernandes said.

The solution is an automated advanced pricing tool that supports about 60 currencies. It can handle up to 3,000 transactions per second.
